    This distinguished resort and health spa is set on a private estate in the middle of town. The unique location has inspired artists and lent its scenery for motion pictures, notably Fellini's film 8 1/2. Known as one of the Grande Dames of Europe, this is a masterpiece of Tuscan architecture, lavishly furnished with priceless antiques and attentive service in the tradition of the past, in harmony with modern comforts and is fully air conditioned.         Gastronomy is an essential part of the reputation of the hotel and the elegant dining room as well as the  open-air restaurant is renowned for its gourmet cuisine.  Dishes are prepared following the traditional Italian style, and in particular to the tuscan one, based on natural and fresh items, directly from the sourrounding area.
